Contributing to an additional experience of immigration and assimilation, the Muslim American community's situation further involves fighting against religious and ethnic discrimination, both from the U.S. government and the general public and surging difficulties proving their allegiance to the U.S. in response to the post-9/11 increase in mistrust and labeling.
